I have finally finished my still image video about what intoxication can do to our sense of logic and understanding. I have added animations, titles, captions, transitions, b-roll and images! It was definitely a crazy process but I am very satisfied on how it turned out. I hope you all find this interesting and enjoyable, thanks!

Audio story animation!
Introduction:
For this weeks blog post we had to use some kind of animation within our audio story soundtrack to enhance it. In class we went over a variety of ways to achieve this task and I also read a little bit about how to create titles and graphics and how to animate an intro title.
Animation:
I started playing around with the video effects panel. For my first and second image I used the "push" effects as a cool transition. I added some of these transitions for a few of my images to make it flow more. I used dip to white, film dissolve, morph cut and a few more. I then started adding titles and captions to my images. For some odd reason the work "graphics; was not popping up on my panel it was just "titles", so I sort of had to figure out how to use that but after playing around with it a bit I was able to add some titles to my images. I made them black and white with some different fonts. Then lastly I added an ending title to wrap up my whole story!
What I want to learn:
For one reason I could not figure out how to make my images move and I would like to be able to do that. I also want to figure out why graphics was not popping onto my panel and only titles was because when we used graphics in class it was much easier than using the titles panel.

We are Back! Intoxication + Brain
Introduction:
For this weeks blog post we were asked to create a still image video with some B roll in a sequence. I really enjoyed doing this assignment because I feel as though it helps listeners better understand my audio story because of the still images provided. Throughout class time and making this I learned some new helpful things about adobe premiere pro. If you keep reading you will find the things I have learned along with the video!
Adobe Premiere Pro:
Premiere Pro is a powerful, cross platform, editing application, designed for video production. You are able to assembles edits, add audio and video effects, add titles and much more! At first I was a little bit confused on how to use Premiere, but I soon was able to figure it out. I learned all about the different bins you can create to store different items. I learned that on the sequence V+video and A=audio, so you must be cautious were you place your recordings. To make my images bigger or smaller I left clicked and dragged the desired image. It is also very important to have your pictures in HDV---->1080p30. You can do this by going to File--New---Sequence---HDV---1080p30.
After completing my project I exported it and placed it in the correct folder so it did not get lost. I was able to upload it onto youtube (which is also another thing I learned) to do that I had to log into youtube, press the upload button and then make sure I import the >mpeg NOT the prproj. Lastly, I learned how to embed my video onto my blog which is pretty easy. You copy the embed link and put in into the HTML and then you are all set.
What Can be Learned?
There is definetly some things I want to work on and learn how to do, such as: being able to make my pictures move in or out to add more of an effect. I think this would help the listener feel more engaged. I also want to learn how to create titles and captions over my picture because I think that would be cool. What does intoxication do to our sense of logic and understanding?
Introduction
In this podcast, I wanted to further investigate the matter of the effects of alcohol and what it can make people do. I also wanted to include some scary stories related to this topic that turned out to be fine.
The first person I interviewed (Bill Treeful) was the chief of police in his town. He has tons of experience with this topic and had some interesting stories as well. I also interviewed Julia O'Neil who talked about an encounter that she had with someone who was not in the right state of mind. Lastly, Jill had a very amusing/frightening story that she shared with us as well.

really did enjoy this project and I feel so much better about using
adobe now! I did find it hard to keep my podcast to only 2 minutes. I
tried to cut out as much as I could but I really think if I cut anymore
out, it would not flow as well.

Creating an Audio Story
Introduction
For my blog post last week I uploaded a one minute audio clip of my mom telling a story about the time a drunk girl was banging on our front door trying to get in because she thought it was someone else's house. If you would like to hear the story listen to the link below!
Topic of Audio Story
For my audio story I am going to discuss the topic of what intoxication does to our senses of understanding and logic. I am going to interview people on scary stories that turned out to be fine and experts on there understanding of this topic. I think it is going to be really interesting to hear what all these people have to say and I am really excited!
Characters and Experts
For my characters I am going to have my mom tell the story about the girl in the middle of the night. I am also going to have one of my friends tell another scary story related to this topic that happened to her. I think these two stories will add suspense to the audio story and make it interesting for the listeners and bring us back to our major question. Lastly I am going to interview my other friend and ask her, her opinions on this topic and what she thinks about it.
As for my experts I am thinking about interviewing resident life and security here at High Point to talk about how often dangerous things happen to people and why it happens. I am also going to interview my grandpa who used to be chief of police in his town. He has a lot of experience and knowledge with this topic and I think this will definitely help us better understand the topic.
Music
I think that incorporating music into the audio story will really help tell the story and move it along. Music can intensify and make a story way more dramatic and interesting for the listener as well.
First Track
For my first track I decided on something kind of creepy and spooky to set the mood for the whole audio story. I think it keeps the listener on edge and will make them want to keep listening. It goes great with this theme. This song is called Cue 1 - Dark-Spooky-Scary (Even In My Dreams) by Soularflair. I tried to copy and embed this track link and paste it to the HTML of this blog post but for some reason it won't play when I try to embed it on here.
Second Track
Another track I found was called 01. RYOKAN 7 by Gabriel Pereira Spurr. This could be a great outro song for my audio story. I found it in the experimental genres and I feel like it has kind of a mysterious vibe to it and leaves us wondering. Once again I tried to do the embedding but the track would not play.
Foley
When told to make a sound effect for my audio recording I really could not think of anything. All I could really think of was to do banging on the wall that represented the sound we heard from my moms story. All I pretty much did was bang on my wall with my fist. I think this kind of makes you feel like you were there and that you can really hear what the banging was like. (although it was MUCH more aggressive since it was coming from someone that was extremely drunk. After I interview everyone hopefully I will be able to come up with a better sound effect but for now I think this would be cool!

Who Is She?
Introduction:
This is a story told by my mother, Jill Treeful, and our very scary experience in the middle of the night getting awoken by aggressive banging and knocking.
Process:
For this assignment we were told to record someone telling us a story. We then had to take this long audio recording and edit it down to about 1 minute with some voice-over moment of reflections. The story being told in my "podcast" is one of my favorite stories and I thought you all would enjoy it as well. To begin I opened up Adobe Audition and imported all my audio clips onto my wave form. I then dragged my main story clip over to multitrack and placed it in track one. Using the razor tool I cut out some silent moments, "um's and so's and random unnecessary moments. To select the sections I wanted to delete I would use the move tool. After cutting down that long audio clip I dragged all my voice-overs onto track 2, 3 and 4. On tracks 2 and 3 I had to raise the volume just a bit so it hit -12. Throughout the story I used Ira Glass method of Jill's anecdotes and my voice-over moment of reflections. I thought this helped keep the story suspenseful and keep it flowing. After I finished editing I exported it by clicking file, export, multitrack mix down, entire session and then saved it as a wave PCM.

Conclusion:

Radio Lab Podcast: More or Less Human?
Introduction: I decided to listen to a radio podcast called More or Less human? This podcast informs the audience and the listeners on the relevance of chatbot's seven years ago and the reinvestigation on them today. Brian Christian tells us that a chat bot is a "computer program that exists to mimic and impersonate human beings." An example would be how the U.S Army has a chat bot called sergeant star that recruits people or chatting with customer service on websites such as apple, verizon, shopping websites, etc. You may think the conversation is very human but it could just be with a chat box. Its hard to tell the difference, however in most cases the very beginning of your conversation with them is normally "Hello, how can I help you" or "It seems there is an issue with this", which could just be a chatbot system until a human becomes available to chat with.
4 Kinds of Audio Used in this Podcast:
1. Natural Sounds: Sound effects that are recorded in the background. They are discrete, distinct elements that require the listeners attention. In the beginning of the podcast two people were talking about an experiment they wanted to perform live. As they began to talk about this experiment there is a dramatic background sound affect at 2:32 minutes. This created a really nice feel and affect for me as a listener.
2. Ambient Sounds: Background noises that establish a sense of place. For example, there were many different times in the podcast when the audience would laugh. This almost made it seem like I was there with them and that they were really enjoying it.
3. Voice-Overs: Include any scripted narration that’s recorded, usually in a studio, to guide a storyline forward/along. For example they mention a man named Hugh Lobner who is a multi millionaire. He wanted to bring a 100 people into a room to sit at computers and chat with either a human or a bot on a screen and for them to decide which they are taking to. After this man is mentioned, at around minute 7:35 a voice over with background music comes on that goes more into detail about this experiment and how Brian Christian was actually a participate in it. This really helped to make the podcast sound more professional, easier to understand and sophisticated.
4. Interview Clips: Recordings of a story’s subject(s), typically recorded on location or over the phone. Interview sound bites help bring the characters in our stories to life. For example, in the first 6 minutes of this podcast, Brian is interviewed by our 2 hosts. He is asked questions on what a chat bot is and gives all of us a little overview on what we will be discussing in this podcast.

In this quick video they discuss how they like to tell stories in a different type of way. They choose complicated subjects that they might not completely understand but they then try to make sense of them. They like to "have fun, experiment and do mischief." They want the listeners to create an opinion of their own at the end and figure it out themselves.
This story is definitely incorporated in the podcast that I listened to. They are asking the audience a very open ended question. Although they do some experiments to help answer this question in some way, there really will never be a direct answer. Sometimes its hard to tell if its a real human or just a bot. Its a concept that people are interested and fascinated in so they want to learn more an try to figure it out.
All in all, I really had fun with this assignment. It was great to listen to a podcast an gain more insight on an important topic and it was also great to learn about the different types of audio that are apart of a recording.
